How do figure out the correct spine?
There are several actors to considerate when choosing the right spine.
- The bow.
- Bow weight at your draw.
- Arrow plate position – the closer to center shoot the bow is, the higher the spine required.
- String material Dacron or Fast Flight; low stretch materials impart more force to the arrow and usually the bow needs 5 pounds heavier spine.
- Your shooting style.
Also, it’s important to keep in mind that while arrow spine charts are a useful starting point, no two bows are exactly the same and our shooting style is a factor in arrow flight as well.
Only static arrow spine can be measured. Spine is the deflection caused by two pounds placed in the center of a shaft supported by two posts 26” apart. To calculate static arrow spine you can consult the arrow spine chart found here.
Dynamic spine is the result of the influence of several factors like type of bow, string material, static spine, arrow length, shooting style, point weight, etc.
What type of wood do you use for the arrows?
Our arrows are almost exclusively premium Port Orford Cedar (POC); occasionally we use Douglas Fir if it is requested.
The reason we employ POC is that it’s easier to straighten and has a good ratio between strength and weight.
Douglas fir is an excellent arrow wood because it’s strong and harder than POC; however, it’s also generally heavier and somehow difficult to strengthen.
How do you seal the arrows?
As an arrow sealer we use a clear water-base acrylic finish; it’s elastic and resistant to abrasion.
We dip the shafts a minimum of three times, depending, to ensure a good covering is achieved.
How long will it take to get my arrows once I order them?
If you purchase custom arrows, it usually takes one to possibly two weeks for a dozen arrows to be completed — more if we’re in our busy season. Next, we ship the arrows using USPS as our preferred shipper worldwide. In the United States, once shipped it takes about another week for delivery. The time to deliver to other countries varies based on factors that include the time it takes that country to release the shipment from customs.
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply; we’re not responsible for delays due to customs.
If purchasing pre-made arrows shown as available on this website, then we ship those within 24-48 hours of receiving the order.
How much is shipping?
Shipping varies depending on where the arrows are going. The cost of shipment will be provided to you before the order is completed. Please note that you must be 18 years or older to make a purchase pf arrows from Arrowcraft Archery.
What is your return policy?
Before any return is made contact us first.
